Ontario Power Authority announces new Incentive!
January 1, 2011 -

The Ontario Power Authority (OPA), along with Ontario’s Local Electric Utilities, are pleased to announce the introduction of the HVAC Incentives Initiative. The HEATING & COOLING INCENTIVE will be one of a family of energy-efficient initiatives for the home. This new Initiative will retain many of the components of the COOL SAVINGS REBATE Program that came to an end on December 31, 2010.

The HEATING & COOLING INCENTIVE provides the following incentives to consumers:

  •  A $250 incentive for the replacement of an existing central air conditioning system with the purchase and installation of an ENERGY STAR® qualified central air conditioning system.  (Note ENERGY STAR® criteria = minimum 14.5 SEER and 12.0 EER)

  • A $400 incentive for the replacement of an existing central air conditioning system with the purchase and installation of an ENERGY STAR® qualified CEE "Tier 2" level central air conditioning system. (Note CEE's "Tier 2" level means the installed product is at least 15 SEER and 12.5 EER)

  • A $250 incentive for the replacement of an existing furnace with the purchase and installation of a furnace equipped with an Electronically Commutated Motor (ECM)

Please note, the following systems NO LONGER QUALIFY for the incentive:

  • Heat pumps (including geothermal systems)
  • Air handlers
  • Programmable thermostats

All purchases and installations must be performed by a participating contractor between January 1, 2011 and December 31, 2011. Additional terms and conditions apply.
